Andrew Kalani Simeona was born in Seattle, Washington but raised in Kahaluʻu and Kāneʻohe. His decision to pursue a higher education in Hawaiian Studies comes from his many experiences with his family, friends and Kumus. And it is these influences that have molded him into being a proud Kanaka Maoli that he is today. Currently Andrew holds a B.A Degree in Hawaiian Studies and plans on working towards pursuing an M.A Degree within the same major. His area of concentration is centered towards Moʻolelo ʻOiwi, being associated with history, literature, storytelling and media in various forms and expressions. And all the while, dancing in a hālau (Hula school) and pupu ʻori (Tahitian Dance School), being involved in student council, and working 2 jobs through his academic journey.

As the modes of indigenous storytelling changes with each generation, Andrew hopes to one day contribute to these stories through media and writing for the next generations.
